What are you doing about global warming? Chances are you’re making changes. You’re recycling, you’re turning off the lights, you’re buying energy saver appliances and you’re even looking at those new hybrids and thinking, the next time I need a new car…
You’re contributing right? You’re doing your part to stop this horrendous fate that’s barreling down on us. What about your neighbour, is he doing his part? What about government policy makers, are they doing their part? What about your mother-in-law, or your “can’t be bothered” brother? If they’re not doing their part how does that make you feel? Are you angry that they don’t seem to care about our impending doom? Are you mad as hell at big oil and industry at how they continue to pollute for the sake of the almighty dollar?
“Trying to limit anybody about anything defies the Laws of the Universe. It cannot be done. You cannot control others, but you can control, and create, your own reality.”
It all boils down to this question; how do you feel about our Earth? Are you frightened? Are you taking action out of that fear?
Many well-meaning environmental groups, as well as the media, get our attention with the fear-based messages about losing species after species, changes to natural habitats for our wild friends, changes in climate and inevitable flooding and loss of life as we know it. Some of you may be raising your eyebrows now, thinking, “is she saying global warming isn’t an issue I should be concerned about?” Of course I’m not saying that, but I AM saying that if your dominant thoughts and feelings about our environment are ones of fear, anger, frustration or uncertainty then you are contributing to our demise as strongly as that polluting brother of yours, despite all the actions you take.
The Law of attraction states “that which is like, unto itself is drawn”. Law of attraction is always working, whether you know it is or not. It is our time of awakening, when a critical mass remembers and understands the natural laws of the universe and how to apply them to push us forward in our evolution. Oprah’s all over this law of attraction thing, you may as well find out what all the fuss is about. You’ll be glad you did because when you master successful application of the law of attraction everything in your life gets better and better.
Healing our planet is no exception. Here’s how. Find ways to look at what’s happening on our Earth and feel good. Simple right? Global warming is doing some amazing things for us, both individually and collectively. I don’t claim to be an expert on climate change, but I do know that the energy around change is very uplifting and empowering and that can’t be a bad thing. Al Gore really got the ball rolling with his film “An Inconvenient Truth”. We watched with horror as he unfolded the science before us in lay terms, but then he did something that I’m very thankful for. He gave us solutions. David Suzuki has given us solutions too, so has Greenpeace, and even locally we have amazing people creating amazing solutions everyday. Going Green is an industry, it is co- creating at its finest and it’s having wonderful effects on our economy.
Yes, there are still those nasty polluters, and you’ll still have to find a way to deal with your mother-in-law but if you simply turn your attention to all of the great stuff that’s happening both ecologically and socially you’ll be creating a much healthier, happier image of the world, even if it’s only in your own eyes, it has amazing power.
You see, one person connected with their own well-being, with their own sense of power and the truth that all really is well, is VERY powerful. You are much more powerful than those acting from fear, or those not acting at all.
Inspired action can be defined as action that is taken from that powerful place of knowing your well-being. If you can’t change your light bulbs and feel good about it, don’t change them until you can. It doesn’t take much effort really. One of the traps we fall into is looking at how far we have to go instead of looking at how far we’ve come. Just the fact that I’m writing an article about environmental issues is a huge sign of progress. I’m not exactly a pollution machine and I’ve always known that the environment was important, but until all the media attention started I knew very little about the issue. People are waking up, one by one and taking some inspired action. Stores are selling re-useable grocery bags, our government is offering rebates and money-saving offers for energy-saving devices and renovations, research on renewable energy resources is flourishing and implementing energy-saving practices has never been easier or more affordable. See how good you feel? That’s the energy that we all need to harness the most. When we’re able to do that, we’ll see that all the fear and fretting was over nothing. Our well-being abounds and there was never any other option. So find a way to feel good, take some inspired action and step off the picket line. You can do more good with your positive thoughts and inspired action than by fighting for change from a resistant, fear-based standpoint. Remember the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer; “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change.”
